Pakistan's fashion week was to kick off with an opulent opening ceremony on Wednesday Nov 4, 2009, against a backdrop of militant violence and security fears that delayed the event and kept away foreign glitterati .

"We, the members of Fasion Pakistan, feel great to host this colorful event at difficult times of our history when the entire nation is waging a battle against militancy," Ayesha Tammy Haq, the chief organizer of the event, told AFP.
